About the project: Collaborated with educational and resource-management staff, scientists, cultural experts, and Maui teachers and scientists to develop a 975-page supplemental high school science curriculum. Units blend science disciplines, resource management, traditional culture, and current issues. Designed the publication and consulted on planned CD-ROM, website, and future project activities.
Following the publication of this curriculum, a series of teacher-training workshops helped educators introduce the curriculum in classrooms across the island. Ten years later, the curriculum is still used by classroom teachers and conservation groups on Maui and other Hawaiian islands.
